The Seimat language is one of 832 unique and beautiful languages of Papua New Guinea.

It is spoken by the Seimat people who live in the Ninigo Islands, Manus Province, PNG.

This website has been launched at the beginning of the United Nations Decade of Indigenous Languages (2022-2032) to celebrate the Seimat language. The Seimat community, in partnership with SIL PNG, developed a trial alphabet in 2003 and learnt to read and write their language for the first time. They worked together to build a library of books and teaching resources for the Seimat elementary schools. These are now available on this website to help the Seimat teachers and parents as they encourage their children to become confident writers and readers now and in future generations.
